Thanks for the comments all. Good eye Jerry - ever since the Renaissance the eye has been so important in visual emphasis. And Doug, you are correct too since the immediate impression is the off-rule placement which adds some energy.

Looking at this heavy coat one can imagine the cold weather and the pleasure will be to drink a hot coffee to warm the bones...Great catch Tommy!.

Maybe... just maybe... one of the reasons the composition works so well is that the chap's eye is pretty well crack on the thirds line L/R and, when viewed in a window of 700 px or so high, with the top of the frame in view, the eye is not far off the thirds line top/bottom ;-)

Ahh, much better. The character adds character and the broken thirds rule forcing him to the edge works well with the large DOF.

Great candid and street work Tv... love all the little details here... the rolled up jeans, the lid in his other hand and the fading hairline ruffled up a bit... most of all the way he is hunched over into the cup.

Wat to go Tommy the subject & PPing are a treat to look at. This portrays the joys of the first cuppa in the mornings whether at home or out on the streets. Well done.

I'm really enjoying your street photography, Tom. Two humorous takes and then this one that talks to the soul. You're on a roll! (And please excuse the pun.)

Really nice Tom. BW suits it well.

Excellent catch and wonderful B&W tonality. I bet there are a lot of stories here...

I know this man. But my picture of him isn't nearly as good. Nice shadows.

This is a catch, and looks good in black and white

Good catch. Nice way to warm up your nose on a cold day. I agree with the other comments, this is a good one.

Tommy, this is great. I can feel the chill in the air, and can almost savour that first sip that this man takes. Great candid shot, with the shadows and the lighting adding too the chilly feel.
