The isolation can be physical (e.g.: a solitaire man in an empty park, or a solitaire house in a flat extense field); social (e.g.: homeless people); or virtual (e.g: a couple kissing as they were alone in the world). There are other creative possibilities… for example you could compose the picture keeping the subject isolated within the frame. Also, the main subject must not be necessarily a person…so abstract shots and macro shots could apply too. I wish you showed your best composition skills in this challenge!!!.

What?. I´m suspecting you want me for setting the galleries all the time while all of you spend the time chatting in this message section ;-). Hehe no way...

Congrats Daniel! Fantastic shot, 2009 really is yours and I am sure 2010 will be too!

Well…I am really surprised…I never expected to win this challenge…There were four or five entries that I considered "unbeatable", so I can´t explain what happened here...and I just can say that Lady Luck has kept staring at me more time than predictable…
Thank you people for these wonderful entries, I hope you have enjoyed this “thematic” topic, and apologize for not being so active at message section, but you know...work and family are also time demanding responsabilities.
Penny: you are right... better than any Topaz filter, what I need is a camera that delivers IQ beyond ISO 200…This limitation has improved my “travesting poor quality shot” skills anyway…
Thank you people again!.

More congratulations to Daniel!!! Hey Martin, do you think we could get the sponsors to hold Daniel's gifts and let them accumlate til maybe he has enough saved up for a new camera? (okay, okay, okay.... I know I should have asked Daniel first).

Congrats on another win for your terrific image Daniel! Looking forward to your new topic after "The Best Of 2009" exhibit is over.

Congratulations Dannyboy, you got a well deserved top spot in a pretty close race here! Looking forward to your next topic, in the meantime though I'll need a couple of hours to set up a "non-challenge" scenario for the Best of 2009.
Sheesh, the last few posts sounds like a deleted Lebowski scene ;)
Ahh yeah, Hudsucker Proxy... that one might be a close 2nd for me, Lebowski being my fave and Fargo not far behind. But it's not fair I guess to rank those films, Coens know how to make 'em right. Even the Ladykillers was great considering that remakes in general suck ;)

Yes, congratulations Daniel! Poor guy, always responsible at the controls- but you do get some new software :-) And you get a break during the Best Of gallery too. Well done Daniel.

Nah, sadly I have no good rug that ties the room together like the "Dude" did JP. I have been shopping for a 9X12 (or larger) for the living room though. You mentioned targeted Google ads earlier. Sure enough, after I was rug shopping online they starting turning up in sidebars. The ads might as well be for something I can use- so I don't mind. It is kind of weird though.

JP, thanks for reminding me about The Big Labowski. I had it in my Netflix Streaming queue and just finished watching it again. Of course half way through it after seeing the Dude drink four White Russians I had to dig for my Kahlua and Vodka and used Eggnog as a substitute for half and half -yum!

PS: Martin, Thanks for listing me as a co-winner of the Steam challenge - probably my one and only claim to fame here at the Peeper! ;-)

Martin, of course a few themes on your list seem to quite challenging from first view e.g. Alliteration. But what the heck do I miss with "Apron Strings"? Must be someting shocking and explicit ...

OK - this is getting really suspicious - now I just saw Franky's "Approaching Giant"! ;-)
Anyone interested in the films of the Chinese filmmaker Yimou Zhang? I really liked: Ju Dou, Raise the Red Lantern, The Road Home, and Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles. I need to add a few more of his to my Netflix queue.

Well I'm spending a fortune for it but up now never got to see it myself. :-((( How can I tell my wife, my kids that my picys are world famous ... ?
Martin, thanks for the list. I thought it had a number of smart topics. Everytime I ever had to think of a theme I always end up with b/w or shapes. Not too creative.

Well that was funny! I clicked to go to the main page and which randomly selected winning shot appears? Frank's bloody tree! I think he may e up to a bit of mischief with that function, after all he's got full access to the server... hmm.
Duuuuuuuuuuude! Good read regarding probably the best Coen film yet! "This aggression will not stand, man"... hahaha, gotta go to imdb and revisit the quotes page for some laughs, never get tired of them! :)

Martin, how much is Franky paying you to feature his sepia toned "Tree"? I see it almost every time I open the Peeper. Just kidding Franky - it's a really nice shot and I did vote for it! ;-)

Hey Frank, in case you're lurking around here: I forgot to comment on the topics list you mentioned. Here they are: [link] . Now if you can figure out what some of them would be about, you're a greater man than me because looking at the list now, I don't remember what the heck I was thinking in regards to some of them ;)

JP, I've had the same happen a couple of times but can't remember the situation except for the one time I was shopping netbooks and I happened to check out some Amazon reviews. The targeted adverts are a very clever approach for sure (most people likely don't mind or even welcome adverts that relate to whatever tracking data suggests they're interested in), and I think those Google ad sidebars do somewhat similar things.

OK, those challenges (#4 and #19 to date) which had ties for 1st place (by JerryCurtis and CJinCA respectively) now are properly credited in their profiles (you attention-seeking & easily upset twits, you ;)). If I hear another request for meaningless and seemingly simple (but in fact a pain to implement) tweaks, I'm gonna close down shop and convert this site to a (silly, dumb, gear-stroker thing) multi-camera image comparator for actual pixelpeepers to quarrel over which camera most clearly shows that some bimbo model didn't wax her legs enough ;)

Isn't that Australian actually, Rod, a? ;) Carole, how about just "hi" and "bye" for login/logout?... or Italian, "ciao" for login, "ciao" for logout...

It should be in English a........Bugger On................Bugger Off.

SALIR instead of Logoff or Logout???? In French that means "to dirty" or "to pollute" - Hmmmmmmmm what could that mean? ;-)

JP, some people think they're still in the 60's ;) Hey if you guys want to go for a best of the decade, say the word (but I do think there will be some pointing out that the next decade starts in 2011)
Debi, it's ok, I don't know who Aam is either. One time he sent me an email, he signed it "Steve Young" -- in case you're not familiar with that name, it has a connection to his helmet avatar.
Regards, Joe Montana

Jeez, Aam, you must have been watching that login button like a hawk every time you're here ;) That's pretty entrepreneurial there of you, Doug... may I suggest dealing in stars over at dpr though? A buck a star... I'm pretty sure there'd be takers there ;)

Al: I prefer Danial. My wife will never notice about my secret life here. Doug I am with JP: "only thing worse than losing a challenge would be winning it". So I pay to you for not voting me. Martin: I wanted to logoff but now I don´t find the option. What happened?. Is it supposed I should keep logged forever?. Please get the logoff button back!.
