Thanks again everyone for your kind comments. Yeah, pretty crazy small aperture but it got me the DOF I needed. JP, this was shot on the SW slope of Queen Anne Hill, Kinnear Place between 5th and 6th Ave. West. I pass through here a lot as I live not far over that house with the peaked roof you see in the lower frame. The Seattle skyline is changing, four of those tall buildings to the left of the Space needle weren't there a year ago.
Jerry, sounds like you hit at least two of the top tourist destinations when you visited Seattle. It is a nice city and I feel lucky to live here, but I might not say so in a few months when I will be in the middle of the rainy season ;-)

The contrast works well for the image and I love the outline against that impending sky.

Brilliant capture, Brent! The scale difference in these two is not obvious at all in this shot - a real illusion, for sure.

BTW, been to Seattle and had the obligatory lunch in the revolving restaurant in the Space Needle. We even visited Pike's Place Market. Beautiful city, indeed!

It is such a strong image Brent that it looks like HDR. Normally this kind of light doesn't go together ... your long exposure time explains why. Most awesome is the lights and defined hills in the far distance on the left. Terrific.

Terrific cityscape of Seattle Brent! I can see some of that nice warm light on the clouds and the long shutter brings out the city lights and defines the clouds well. Very sharp and good composition too. Well done!

Thanks much all :-) I stumbled over this potential scene on a walk in the morning and crossed my fingers that I could return at twilight and find a little drama without all the rain we have been having (a few drops were coming down here). I ended up getting a situation I like where the sun turns orange tucking over the horizon beneath the blue cloud layer to give the city some warm light while the sky stays a cooler tone. That prominent light really is quite yellow and this was the last frame I got before a matching light further down the road came on in sequence and became a distraction.

Beautiful photo Brent. The Yellow is a bit too saturated for my taste, but it definitely helps the lights stand out. I was there myself earlier today, and took a nice pic as well (space needle framed into the sculpture - a classic)

beautiful cityscape and the sombre sky contrasts so well with the burst of light

Perfecto. On waking this morning Jill said I had to see your latest entry, it is great. You sure have big street lights in your city :-) Pin sharp & great perspective.

Wow , Brent this is truly beautiful....the sky, the multitude of lights, yet two outstanding features. Well taken & spotted. I think this challenge has become so innovative, the longer it runs.
